Why Do It?
Tight hips are the enemy of the mountain hunter. Whether you're high-stepping over deadfall or sitting for hours in a tree stand, hip mobility dictates your comfort and efficiency. The 90/90 targets both internal and external rotation simultaneously.
Execution
- Sit on the floor with one leg in front bent at 90 degrees, and the other to the side bent at 90 degrees.
- Keep your torso tall. Don't round your back.
- Lean forward over the front leg to stretch the external rotators (glute).
- Rotate your torso toward the back leg to target internal rotation.
- Hold each position, breathing deeply.
Common Mistakes
- Rounding the lower back to get "lower."
- Forcing the knees down with hands instead of gravity/muscles.
- Holding the breath during the stretch.
