Why Do It?

If you want to train your lungs and your will to live simultaneously, do burpees. They are a full-body movement that requires zero equipment and minimal space, making them the perfect backcountry camp exercise for maintaining fitness.

Execution

  1. Stand tall.
  2. Drop down, placing your hands on the ground.
  3. Kick your feet back into a plank position.
  4. Lower your chest/thighs all the way to the floor.
  5. Push up and jump your feet back toward your hands.
  6. Jump up and clap your hands overhead.

Common Mistakes

  • Snaking up (arching the back to lift the chest before the hips).
  • Landing with locked knees.
  • Sandbagging the jump (barely leaving the ground).
